Welcome to my website! Our class has 25 students: 19 grade sixes and 6 grade fives. We are in Room 102.
I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you.I grew up in Bedford, Nova Scotia.I am the youngest of three children.I currently reside in Windsor Junction and am married with four children (Alex - 8, Lila and Luke - 5, and Will - 3).
I would say one of my greatest passions is learning and it is my goal to inspire my students to develop a love for lifelong learning themselves. I completed my Bachelor of Applied Arts in Child and Youth Study (2002), as well as my Bachelor of Education (2004) at MSVU in Halifax. In May 2007 I graduated with my Master of Education (Literacy) from MSVU. I also completed a Diploma in Educational Technology from Cape Breton University in 2012. During the 2013-2014 school year I was granted a year-long educational leave which allowed me to pursue a Master of Education (Lifelong Learning), again from MSVU.
This is my 15th year of teaching. My first year of teaching was at Sackville Heights Elementary school and I taught grade six there. I spent the next ten years at Beaver Bank-Kinsac Elementary School (BBK). While there, I taught several different grades (from 2 to 6) and for the last four years I was also the Vice-Principal. I also spent a year working as a part-time Assistive Technology Specialist with the school board during my time at BBK. In this job I worked with teachers and students, showing them how to use assistive technologies so students with learning challenges can better demonstrate their understanding. I taught grade 6 at Kingswood Elementary during the 2015-16 school year. For the past 2 years I was an Elementary Literacy Coach, working collaboratively with teachers to support literacy instruction for students in various schools throughout the HRCE .
I am excited to be joining the Ash Lee Jefferson Elementary School community and am looking forward to learning as much (or more) from you and your child/children as they learn from me.
